CARISSA PAPPAS, MA, AMFT - THERAPIST
Your journey is the most important aspect of therapy and I would be honored to assist you with that journey in any way I can. People are complex, diverse and interesting, and based on my experience, are just trying to do the best they can. Whether you've been in therapy before and are just looking to get "back on track" or you are taking that courageous first step, I would be privileged to help you on your journey.
I have experience treating individuals, couples and families who struggle with depression, anxiety, work-related stress, trauma, addiction, grief and loss. Based on where you would like to start, together we can create goals to improve your mental health and well-being.
Danae Burgner, MA, LMFT - Therapist
Do you feel stuck? Like you can’t do it on your own? My hope is to collaborate with you to better understand some of the obstacles that are in your way, in order for you to be able to live the life you want.
As a therapist I am client-centered, compassionate and honoring of the values and lived experiences of each person I meet with. Therapy is about discovering or rediscovering your preferred way of living and focusing on the changes you would like to make in your life.
My style of counseling is grounded in Narrative and Solution Focused Therapy, which explores ways to overcome the challenges that keep you feeling stuck, through better understanding the knowledge you already possess. I am also trained in EMDR. I strongly believe we hold many of our own answers, we just need help uncovering them. I offer therapy for individuals, couples and families.
I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist offering telehealth (secure online sessions) to clients residing in California. I received my Masters in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2016 and enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and supporting clients through challenging seasons of life due to change or transition. I provide a warm strength based approach, am relationship focused, and strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space. I believe in the mind-body connection and take a holistic/systemic approach when getting to know you and in thinking about how I can best help. I am guided by evidence based theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT). CBT is a present focused and goal-oriented approach where we will look at how your thoughts and behaviors impact the way that you feel. Therapy will involve evaluating your thoughts, learning new coping skills, and making small behavioral changes to improve your life. With ACT, the focus is learning to accept troublesome thoughts and feelings and take action toward living a meaningful life, guided by your values. I also utilize attachment theory, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) skills. If you are seeking to better understand yourself, improve the relationships in your life, are hurting and need support, or have realized that the way you have been coping is no longer effective; I am here for you.
Liza Castro, MA, AMFT- Therapist
I believe that we all have the potential for healing and I view psychotherapy as an opportunity for growth and change, as well as an opportunity to feel closer to yourself and those you love. I have been providing counseling to clients of diverse backgrounds and ages. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish.
Some of my specialties include working with children, adolescents or adults and helping them overcome trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, depression, self-esteem, domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse addiction, relationship issues, family conflict and child abuse. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in most of my treatment approaches, with a focus on mindfulness, positive coping skills, trauma-informed care and increasing self-awareness. My approach is strength-based, warm, relatable, empathetic and person-centered. I understand that every person has unique qualities and I tailor interventions to meet your personal needs and goals of therapy. I view therapy as a collaborative approach and a journey into self-discovery. My work with clients often emphasizes the dynamic relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they affect our life and connection with others.
Sometimes we lose sight of the possibility of change. My work focuses on helping my client find that place within where positive change begins. I am dedicated to working with you and identifying and achieving your goals, whatever those may be!
